Contribution to the development of the Amazon
The research group Science, Technology and Food Engineering develops several researches in the Amazon region, considered one of the most important reserves in the world. The group's research seeks to carry out a detailed characterization of existing raw materials in the Amazon, to develop new extraction and preservation processes, in addition to optimizing existing technological processes, which can be used in their preparation and conservation. Contact with the population is essential, as part of the objectives is to transfer such technologies and processes, aiming at the creation of cooperatives with the installation of agro-industries, generating new jobs and contributing to the development of the North region. The group also participates in a large number of Research Projects, financed by State, Federal development agencies and through International cooperation.
